I’m New!

Welcome to Good Shepherd.

We’re so glad you’re here. Whether you’re seeking, curious, returning, or rooted in faith – you are welcome.

At Good Shepherd, we believe that Jesus Christ calls each one of us by name and leads us with love, grace, and truth. Just as a shepherd gathers all their sheep, we believe Christ embraces all people – no matter your race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, social status, or level of ability.

Here you will find a community shaped by compassion, guided by Scripture, and committed to building the Kingdom of God through justice and equity for all. There is room in the fold for you.

Welcome home.

Are you new to Good Shepherd or thinking about joining us for worship? If yes, welcome!! We are so happy to have you.

We have put together this page in an effort to help you feel more comfortable about what to expect when you attend worship at GSLC. We know it can be nerve-wracking trying a new congregation, so hopefully this page helps!

You are always more than welcome to contact our office if you have any questions or would like someone to guide you! In the meantime, here are some common questions and things you may want to know:

Where are we located?

We’re on McMillan Street in Marshfield, WI (502 W McMillan to be exact). “The church on the hill” as we’re fondly known. There is a parking lot to the south of the church (look for the bell tower). The entrance is ADA accessible.

Who can attend your worship services?

All people are God’s beloved! All are welcome to come hear the Good News of Jesus!

When is worship?

We worship every Sunday at 9:00am. During the warmer months, we worship outside on the east lawn. We also have Wednesday evening worship during the seasons of Advent (before Christmas) and Lent (before Easter) at 7:00pm.

Who can take communion at GSLC?

All of God’s people are welcome to our Lord’s table. Please find the ELCA explanation of communion here.

How should I dress for service?

We’re just happy you’re coming! Our congregation is fairly casual. Please dress as you would for work or going out and about. During the warmer months, we do worship outside so bring a sweater if you get chilly or something to block the sun. There are shady spots to sit.

What do I need to bring to service?

Again, we’re just happy you’re coming, so bringing yourself is most important ;-). During the warmer months, we worship outside on Sunday mornings, so feel free to bring a lawn chair. We have some chairs available, too.

Each service, we collect an offering – one that goes to support a community nonprofit and another to support the church. Please support as you feel comfortable.

What do you believe?

We are part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).  We believe all are loved and welcomed by Jesus. Whoever you are, wherever you are on your faith journey, you are God’s beloved. You can find our bulletins here if you’d like to check it out ahead of time. You can also find live streams of indoor services here.

If you’d like someone to assist you during your visit to GSLC, please contact the office and we’d be happy to help! Hope to see you soon!
