From Pastor Katie: I’m from the small town, Spring Valley, just a couple hours away from Marshfield. I’m an only child. My dad was a high school math teacher, while my mom became a stay-at-home mom once I was born, but later went back to work as an office administrator for first my home church, then another church in our home area.
From a young age my family inspired in me a love of reading and a love of music, which continue to be some of my greatest enjoyments. I went to college at Luther College in Decorah, IA, where I got my degree in Environmental Studies.
After college, I worked in a variety of jobs until I learned about the ELCA’s program Young Adults in Global Mission. I was accepted into the program and lived in England for a year, where I was the chaplain’s assistant at a girl’s boarding school. While there, I realized I was being called to pastoral ministry, and began seminary at the Lutheran School of Theology after I got back home.
I look forward to getting to know the people of Good Shepherd, and partnering in the ministry already taking place. I am also looking forward to exploring Marshfield and getting to know the beauty of the area.
